The District Board of Directors met on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 4:30 PM.
The Board of Directors heard updates from General Manager Josh Howard on the District’s current and pending projects, including analyzing current and future water needs, growth-driven distribution projects, project funding, upcoming conferences, and employee training.
The Board of Directors voted to award Axis Construction the Plant 24 flow control valve contract. This project is to replace a motor-operated fill valve at Plant 24 in Alvarado. The Water Operations Department solicited bids from three contractors to remove and replace the current motor-operated valve with a CLA-VAL model flow control valve. The CLA-VAL model valve is preferable because it allows for easier maintenance than the motor-operated valve and is the general standard at the rest of JCSUD’s fill valve stations. All three bids were under the budgeted amount of $65,000.
The Board of Directors voted to approve a 1-year renewal contract with Daupler. In 2023, the District partnered with Daupler to receive after-hours customer calls and implement a Response Management System (RMS) to respond promptly and effectively to emergency water and wastewater calls. The RMS system gathers real-time response data to document response performance, provides management transparency, and provides a customer-facing interface for JCSUD to engage customers. The customer-facing feature includes timelines for incident response detailing crew dispatch, arrival and departure times, the information provided to JCSUD by the customer during the initial customer call, and the ability for the customer to upload photos, add notes, and provide special instructions. The existing contract expires on June 24, 2024. Staff will coordinate with Daupler on plans for a multi-year contract moving forward that will lock in a set price and provide cost savings for the District.
