[ARCHIVED] May 2022 Board Meeting - Press Release

Press Release

May 18, 2022:  Press Release – Joshua, TX

The District Board of Directors met on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at 4:30 PM.

The Board of Directors accepted the 2021 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and the Independent Auditor's Report from George, Morgan, and Sneed, P.C.  Every year, JCSUD is required by State law and debt covenants to publish a completed set of audited financial statements.  The District received an unmodified opinion, and the financial statements were presented fairly in all material respects and were in accordance with accounting principles.  In 2021, the District received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2020 audit, the District's 8th year in a row.  This certificate is presented to entities whose audits show transparency and full disclosure of their financials.

In other actions, the Board of Directors awarded Tex-Pro Construction LLC the construction contract for the District's Capital Improvement Project on E. CR 405 in Alvarado.  Tex-Pro Construction LLC has performed successfully on projects with JCSUD in the past.  The E. CR 405 capital improvement project consists of approximately 2,100 LF of a 6-inch waterline to be installed.  The waterline project will be installed east of CR 401, the railroad tracks, and west of I-35W.  This waterline project will increase the pressures in this area of our water system.

JCSUD  WATER LOSS REPORT – Day 60

JCSUD General Manager Pete Kampfer reported on practices and procedures in identifying water loss and the corresponding strategies to reduce leakage.  JCSUD will increase revenues and benefit from the extension of sustainable water supplies, reduced operating costs, improved system hydraulics and District efficiency, and improved environmental stewardship.  Due to several different factors, the Operations and Utility Services Departments have significantly reduced water loss over the past 60 days.  Total water losses were approximately 33 MG for January and February, then decreased significantly to 25.6 MG in March and 20.9 MG in April.
